Bloomfield Township has settled a lawsuit for $40,000 involving a pedestrian killed in a car crash involving a former clerk while driving a township vehicle.

Bradley Bauer, 32, of Rochester, died in a crash involving former Clerk Jan Roncelli while she was driving a township car in Birmingham at about 3:30 a.m. on Sept. 22, 2020.

The mother of Bauer’s young daughter sued the township and Roncelli in Oakland County Circuit Court. Roncelli was later dismissed from the lawsuit.

Attorney Geoffrey Fieger alleged in the lawsuit that the township should have known Roncelli had a bad driving record and shouldn’t have provided her with a township vehicle.

But Michigan Secretary of State records show Roncelli has a clean record. Fieger could not be reached for comment.
