The saga that is Johnny Depp and Amber Heard’s highly publicized legal battle will have a new audience: TV viewers.

The headling-making defamation lawsuit involving the actors will be turned into the original film Hot Take: The Depp/Heard Trial at Tubi.

The film will drop on the platform on Sept. 30 and follow the turbulent relationship between Depp, played by Mark Hapka, and Heard, played by Megan Davis, both inside and outside of court.

Hot Take: The Depp/Heard Trial will dramatize the two-month defamation trial that ended on June 1 and found that Heard had defamed Depp by making references to domestic violence allegations against him in an op-ed piece in the Washington Post in December 2018.

Meanwhile, Depp was found responsible by the jury for a defamatory comment made by his attorney regarding Heard.

Depp received $10 million in compensatory damages, while Heard received $2 million.

“Hot Take: The Depp/Heard Trial has ‘Hot Take’ in the title for a reason,” said Adam Lewinson, Tubi’s chief content officer. “With our partners at MarVista, this Tubi Original was fast-tracked into production to capture a timely take on a story that became part of the cultural zeitgeist, painting a unique picture of what millions watched play out in the headlines over the summer.”
